106th Foot, Bombay Light Infantry, officer’s 18mm

£30.00

The 18mm fine gilt button  is in excellent condition retaining almost full gilt and with the backmark JENNENS & Co LONDON.  The 106th Foot Bombay Light Infantry, 2nd Bombay European Regt. was one  of the regiments taken into the British Line after the end of the East India Company. The button was worn from 1861 to 1881 when it became the 2nd Bn. The Durham Light Infantry. Although collectors often prefer the larger buttons, the numbered buttons 101 to 109 are rather hard to find and far fewer small buttons were worn than large. The regiment’s history goes back to the 1820s.   may16/2
