1784 Army List showing the officers serving just months after the close of the War of Independence

194pp, the verso of page 194 is numbered 268 & with p269 gives Alterations while Printing, pp 271-314 [Officers on the English and Irish Half Pay] pp1-38[Officers of the Royal Regiment of Artillery, Corps of Engineers, Marine Forces, & Succession of Colonels].  Fairly modern stout plain buckram titled in gilt to the spine ARMY LIST 1784,  a very sound working copy, the the text block tight and clean. The only annotation noted is to the 42nd (The Royal Highland) Regt. of Foot – mainly to the 2nd Battalion, which is noted as serving in the East Indies. There are blank pages between most regiments in the main section to allow for notes ans updates. We cannot explain the strange pagination but nothing seems to be missing. This edition shows the composition of the army just after the conclusion of the War of American Independence. We have priced this volume much less than usual for this era because of the rather boring working binding.    jan27/3  SOLD 22nd March 2023
