22nd Madras Native Infantry from the HEIC period, officer’s 19mm

£28.00

22nd Madras Native Infantry. A good example of the officer’s gilt 19mm button with backmark FIRMIN. LONDON. The button has the fairly standard Madras design of the regimental number XXII within a garter bearing the battle honours SERINGAPATAM AVA [for the First Burma War of the 1820s] beneath an early Victorian crown. This pattern was worn by The East India Company’s troops until its demise after the Mutiny. The button retains almost full gilt.   mar7/3
