2nd Royal Highlanders [Black Watch] at Aldershot c 1884


A group photograph, 9½ x 7½, on an old album leaf measuring 14 x 10 ins,  titled in a contemporary hand in ink on the card “A” Company 2nd Royal Highlanders at “C” Lines, South Camp, Aldershot, with Capt: Sherlock & Lieut: Maxwell. The photograph is in good condition apart from a crease to the print affecting the piper on the extreme left. The verso of the card has a portrait, 8 x 6 ins, titled Capts: Sherlock & Kerr, with their wonderful sharpshooter = after the attack.We think the attack referred to is part of an exercise. Another photograph on the website was taken at the same camp and is dated 1884.      aug11/2               SOLD 12th August 2021

Captain Ephraim Thomas Sherlock was first Commissioned into the 73rd   in 1865 and retired in 1885 as an honorary major.
