xi, 271pp. Contemporary or slightly later green half leather gilt with marbled paper covered boards, very minor wear at extremities, string mark to top upper board, crested bookplate of William G Stuart, faint and indecipherable blind stamp of an old library to lower right side of title page. Hozier, an officer of the 3rd Dragoon Guards was Assistant Military Secretary to tche commander of the expedition, Sir Robert Napier [ later Lord Napier of Magdala ] and was joint author of the large official record of the expedition so in a prime postion to have accurate information on this expedition which was very much led by forces from India. There were no maps or illustrations in this early work: there were in the large official history produced the following year. mar1/2
