72nd Foot, Duke of Albany’s Own Highlanders, a good example of  the 25mm brass button of the pattern worn between 1855 and 1881, when it became the 1st Bn. The Seaforth Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany’s Own), The backmark is SMITH  KEMP & WRIGHT BIRMINGHAM. This button is of superior manufacture to most OR buttons and has a fixed shank rather than the recessed type more typical of the company’s buttons.    may15/5   SOLD 19th May 2023
