77th (East Middlesex) Regt, of Foot. Officer’s gilt coatee button, 21mm,

POA

77th (East Middlesex) The Duke of Cambridge’s Own Regiment of Foot. A very good example of the officer’s 21mm gilt button , the largest size worn on the officer’s scarlet coatee gilt, circa 1835-1855. The button has the backmark JENNENS & Co LONDON. This button has an unusual type of shank which seems completely original and is probably some sort of patent. it is perhaps an effort to find an improved way of fixing through thick lace.   may29/4   SOLD 11th August 2023
