An excellent example of 84th Foot button worn from 1855 to 1881 when the regiment was designated 2nd Bn. The York and Lancaster Regiment. The officer’s gilt 25mm button retains full gilt and has the backmark C. PITT & Co. 50 St. MARTIN’S LANE LONDON. The regiment first saw active service in the 1790s in India. mar9/4
