A croquet party in the Punjab, probably at Murree circa 1865-70

A mixed group of players and observers at a croquet party in the late 1860s, 9 x 8 ins with arched top, pasted to an old album leaf from an album put together by General Sir Peter Lumsden GCB, CSI who is the heavily bearded figure near the centre of the group. In 1868 he was appointed QMG of the Indian Army. The figure shouldering his mallet is Daniel Friel MacLeod CB, Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab 1868-70. The reverse has two cut out composite groups, the top one including both the above men. apr13/3
