A curious little brass armorial of a demi lion

A small, heavy, brass block with a raised cast heraldic crest of a demi lion. This mysterious item measures 4 cm square with canted corners and is approximately half a cm thick. One end appears to have been sawn off [shown in one of the photographs. jan31/5
