A sergeant photographed in Canada wearing a fur trimmed uniform greatcoat
POA
A very good and unusual carte de visite by The Halifax Photographic Co. Halifax, Nova Scotia. This cdv came in an old collection of British military images and probably dates from the 1870/80s. The NCO wears a fur cap and uniform great coat with fur cuffs and collar, the stripes on his right sleeve beneath a grenade of the Royal Engineers. It is probably a studio photograph but snow dusting to parts of his coat emphasises the harsh climate where this rarely seen part of British uniform was seen. jan12/1 SOLD 27th February 2023
