Bound in contemporary half calf with marbled paper boards but re-cased professionally in the late 20th century with new calf gilt spines, minor wear to extremities of boards but perfectly sound and internally clean, no previous ownership markings. A varied selection of notices from the London Gazette including appointments, parliamentary activity, awards, etc.  Pages 250 to 284 comprise reports to the Indian Board concerning the actions of the Coorg Field Force including casualty lists [numbers of all ranks but only the offciers are named individually]. Reports are included from T.H.S. Conway [Adjutant General to the Army], Colonel P Lindesay [commading Coorg Field Force]. Saml  Hicks [AAG Coorg FF]. Colonel D Foulis [commanding western column], Jas Macdonald [DAAG, WCCFF, Colonel G Waugh [comg. northern column, CFF], Major C M Bird, 31st LI, Lieut Colonel G Jackson [commanding western auxiliary column], E W Cleverty, Bde Majors WAC, CFF, R S Seton, Horse Arty, comg Artillery CFF, Lt Col G M Steuart [comg eastern column CFF]. Lieut Thomas Maclean i[DAAG EC CFF]. The Coorg campaign was awarded a special medal by the Honourable East India Company [44 in gold and 300 in silver]. There is a stark immediacy to these reports, orignally published in the London Gazette, which is seldom captured in later accounts.     mar19/1
