China War 1860, Bhutan Field Force 1865, DQMG 1864-8, QMG 1868-75, Acting Resident at Hyderabad, Adjutant General 1874-9, Chief of Staff India 1879, ADC to Queen Victoria 1870-81. Member of Council of India 181883-93, British Commissioner on the Afghan Boundary Commission1884-5.
