Armorial crest of a charioteer on a baronet’s livery button.
£15.00
A dramatic and particularly pictorial armorial device on a silver plated 27mm livery button. The design of a naked charioteer in a chariot pulled by four rearing horses has a pendant shield with the red hand of Ulster suggested a baronet. The backmark is PITT & Co. 31 MADDOX ST. LONDON. There is a little if the underlying copper bleeding through on some of the high points of the design. Apologies for the photographer’s fingers adding a touch of colour by the armorial hand. It does show how shiny the button is. feb21/8
