Army Drivers in India, late 19th century

£55.00

A most unusual late nineteenth century cabinet card, without photographer’s credit, showing a group of 6 Army drivers with two horses held by barefooted Indian syces. Some of their tack is displayed behind them and in front a sleepy looking dog obscures a critical part of their title on a board. We cannot tell what sort of drivers they are but feel that if they were artillery some sort of gun would be in evidence.       jul22/4
