Contemporary full calf with black title labels gilt, rubbed and scuffed boards but sound if springing a little, spine split along bottom inch of spine but detached section still present. This is a still complete and useful  reading copy, hinges split along endpapers, evidence of worming to the gutters, first twenty pages or so detached, final page torn without loss, the paper is generally very browned but still readable, the folding tables (allowances, pay etc) have been cut along the folds but appear complete, a working copy. A mass of useful information (much more than available in an East India Register of the period, although not including Bombay & Madras) including the Bengal Army List, Marine List Commercial List, Shipping arrivals and Departures etc., Births marriages and Deaths. aug16/7
