£275.00

REPUBLIC OF INDIA. INDIAN NAVAL DOCKYARD BOMBAY. Report by Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners with proposals for initial and ultimate development in stages of the Naval Dockyard at Bombay and estimates of cost. May 1950. COPY No. 47. Printed by Vacher & Sons Ltd. [London]. 1st edition folio.

3 part folding aerial photographic style view of the dockyard as it was intended to be tipped to front pastedown, 70pp, 19 large folding coloured plans. Printed SECRET to top of title page and on the upper board. Original pebbled cloth gilt in very good condition. The only previous ownership marking is OFFICE COPY in pencil to the front free endpaper, probably at the Consulting Engineer’s London office judging by the very good condition. A glance at the frontispiece vision will be enough to show that the project did not go ahead, at least not in the position shown next to Apollo Bunder and the Gateway to India.   apr6/1    RESERVED 28th March 2024
