CALCUTTA AND SURROUNDING COUNTRY. Scale 1 inch to 1 mile. Survey of India [Calcutta] 1924.

An unusually large map, 42 x 30 ins unfolded, printed in full colour and folding down to 10 x 7½ ins but probably originally intended to be wall mounted. It extends from Hooghly and Chinsuru in the north to Sonarpur in the south and covers such important areas Serampore and Barrackpore as well as well as giving good detail of the City of Calcutta itself. The best large scale map of the former capital of India which we have come across in years.    jun20/2
