1912 Map of Delhi on a scale of 1 inch to 1 mile published by the Survey of India [Calcutta], coloured, folding, dissected and linen backed, extending to 34 x 22 ins unfolded, folding down into cloth covered boards 8¾ x 5¾ ins. Upper board, gilt titled DELHI SCALE 1″ = 1 MILE , detached but spine cloth remaining attached to rear board. The map is made up from two sheets of Delhi, Punjab & United Provinces titled and numbered Delhi, Gurgaon & Meerut Districts 53 H/2 and Delhi, Meerut and Bulandshahr Districts 53 H/6. The map, based on surveys of 1910-1911 shows the city and surrounding area as it was at the time of the 1911 Delhi Coronation Durbar, the Durbar Amphitheatre appearing near the top edge of map, which extends from Loni in the north to Tughlakabad in the south and from Kanjhaula in the west as far east as a few miles beyond Ghaziabad. Apart from the easily repaired hinge the map is in good condition for its age and is one which we have not encountered before. jul6/1.
