Delhi Durbar 1903 Medal in silver

£475.00

A very good example of the 1903 Delhi Durbar medal with some original silk ribbon, now fragile and damaged [new ribbon is easily obtained]. The medal is in excellent condition with just very minor scratches to the obverse and a light edge knock at 6 o’clock. This medal was issued to those who attended the Durbar and there were just 2,567 silver examples recorded as being issued, compared with 30,000 of the 1911 medal. The 38.5 mm diameter medal has the crowned and robed bust of the King Emperor Edward VII to the obverse and Farsi to the reverse reading, By grace of the Lord of the Realm, Edward, King, Emperor of India,1901. dec16/2
