33rd Regt. The Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regiment). A large 14½ x 11½ ins group photograph showing the captains and subalterns of the 4th Battalion in service dress with rank badges on the sleeves and the distinctive bronze collar badges with the elephant marking their long Indian service when the Duke was commanding officer. The 28 officers are grouped in a garden in front of what looks like a large house, probably in or near Halifax, West Yorkshire, their depot. The honorary colonel of the battalion was Lord J. S. Savile, K.C.V.O.    The photograph is mounted on old grey card. nov19/1    SOLD 15th February 2023
