EAST INDIAN RAILWAY. Free Season Ticket No 6. A printed card ticket, approximately 3½ x 3 ins [93x 78 mm], allowing Mr W Patterson of the Locomotive Department to travel between all stations with his servant in 3rd Class and is dated 1st July 1868 to 30th September 1868. An added note at the top of the ticket reads To Ride on Engine. The East Indian Railway originated in Calcutta and its most important line connected the capital with Delhi, although it was only in 1867, the year before this ticket was issued, that the first through train ran on that route.   jul15/2 SOLD 17th February 2023
