ciii, 279pp [Bengal including 6pp casualty list], 164pp [Madras including 5pp casualty list], 144pp [Bombay including 3pp casualty list], [xiv advertisements], 12pp publisher’s list. Contemporary full calf with black title label gilt, both boards detached but present, spine leather degraded, internally sound text block with just a little occasional browning. Contemporary ownership name to verso of title page Mrs Billamore, 1 Gothic Terrace, Kent House Rd., Sydenham, Kent. Pencil list of population of Bombay districts to ffep. There is some pencil & ink annotation, almost exclusively to the Second European Regiment Light Infantry suggesting that the book belonged to the family of Ensign George Reid Billamore of that regiment, which is shown as being stationed in Aden. Two other Billamores appear in the Bombay military list. This is a useful reference showing the composition of the Army at the time of the Second Sikh War in the Punjab,when the Earl of Dalhousie was Viceroy of India. nov8/1  SOLD 3rd December 2021
