John Nicholson [1821-1857] served initially in the 27th Bengal NI with distinction in Afghanistan, the Sutlej campaign, and in the Punjab during the 2nd Sikh war. In 1857 as Brigadier General of the Punjab moveable column but he was shot during the storming of Delhi.

William St. John Fremantle Brodrick, 9th Viscount Midleton [1856=1942] had a long political career serving mainly in the War Office until 1903 when he was appointed Secretary of State for India during the Viceroyalty of Lord Curzon.
