£20.00

Two good group photographs of the crew of H.M.S. Dido,  a Cruiser built in the 1890s which had played a minor part in the Boxer Rebellion in China in 1900. One side shows the ship’s Royal Marines, all wearing plain white fore and aft caps with their typical blue uniform. Two of the group wear the medal for the China War of 1900 – the Boxer Rebellion. They are grouped with a goat mascot. The other side of the old album card shows a group of eight seamen, titled SIDE PARTY, wearing straw sun hats, probably of local manufacture and they have a small bird in a cages.  Each strongly toned photograph is around 10 x 8 ins. aug25/2
