HORNER. A 6 x 4 ins bookplate of DAVID HORNER [1900 – 1983], pasted to an old book board. Horner was a crime writing novelist who met Osbert Sitwell when he was an undergraduate at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. They became life long friends and Horner lived with Sir Osbert at Renishaw Hall in Derbyshire. A portrait of David Horner will be found in The Sitwells and the Arts of the 1920s and 1930s [National Portrait Gallery 1994, page 177]. feb22/6
