The small finely and intricately constructed is approximately 1¾ ins in diameter and approximately ¾ in deep with a hinged lid. Such boxes were mainly decorative but might be used as a sort of pomander with sweet smelling herbs or wood shavings inside. This example dates from the mid Victorian period.  SOLD 26th March 2024
