Late Victorian silver gilt vesta case
The vesta match case measures 45 x 35 mm and is hall marked Birmingham 1897. Two monograms on the front show a presentation from KD to JE [or possibly JES]. It is made of heavy gauge weighing 30 gms. The absence of a suspension ring, for the usual position on a watch chain, may indicate that it was intended for a lady. The gilt is rubbed on the lid where the box has been repeatedly opened and closed.
