Lord Kitchender & Lord Curzon, autograph initials, circa 1903

£100.00

Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India [1899-1905] & Lord Kitchener, Commander in Chief in India [1902-1909] had a stormy relationship in India where their strong personalities rather clashed. This seemingly insignificant piece of paper with each of their initials was clipped from a document where they had each marked it with their single initial to show that it had been read and passed by them. We had several documents with such initials, always in coloured pencil, but this small piece of  paper is particularly interesting in showing the initials very close together. Now mounted on later paper.       dec25/1

Provenance: From an archive of Kitchener material, this piece of paper was given to a previous collector by Herbert, 3rd and last Lord Kitchener [1919-2011].
