Military General Service Medal 1845 with two clasps but with name erased

An original example of the 1845 issued Military General Service Medal with two Penninsular War c;asps for ALBUHERA & VITTORIA, battles of 1811 and 1813. Although the medal is in GVF/NEF condition the name has been cleanly erased a long time ago. jun2/4

Medals were erased for various reasons. Sometimes they were erased whenm a family sold medals and did not want it known they had done so; at other times a soldier had lost his medal and wanted a copy which did not have another soldier’s name on it.
