Monogrammed red morocco gilt desk blotter

A red morocco leather desk blotter, 11½ x 8 ins with elaborate gilt and black tooling. It is centred with a monogram of the letter C beneath a royal crown between feathers, this device repeated in smaller size on each side of back and front. The interior is lined with marbled paper in reds and blues. The unidentified blotter is in very good condition with just a little wear at the extremities of the corners and the central cord to hold the papers in place is lacking but could quite easily be replaced. The rear board is brighter than the upper as the latter would have been exposed to more light when lying on a desk or writing table. I think it is European and 19th century in origin.  oct11/1      SOLD  25th September 2022
