Officer’s Hot Weather Tunic, probably Consular Service 5th class

The white jacket is well tailored and in sound condition, but in need of cleaning. The topmost of the five front buttons is lacking. The button design of the royal arms without supporters is recorded in Dress and Insignia Worn at Court as being worn by Colonial Service Officer’s on hot weather uniform as well as Officers in Civil Employ in India. The single button on the cuff suggests Consular Service 5th Class. The larger front  buttons are by Stillwell of London but the ones on the sleeve are by Hobson. There is a tailored opening for the sword on the left side of the jacket.      jul2/1
