£200.00

Nevill, Captain H. L., D.S.O., Royal Field Artillery: Campaigns on the North-West Frontier. John Murray [London] 1912 1st edition 8vo.

6 photo illustrations, 9 maps in text, 5 folding maps in rear pocket, xix.413pp. Original red cloth gilt, top edges gilt, spine cloth faded but an unusually clean copy of this book and complete with all illustrations and maps – crucially the 5 in the rear pocket which are so often missing or badly damaged through use. A very detailed work on the so called minor wars on India’s  North West Frontier with tables of troops engaged in the various campaigns from the Black Mountain Expedition of 1852 to the Mohmand Expedition of 1908, including such important campaigns as Chitral and Malakand. Although there are many reprints available 1st editions of this book in decent and complete condition are now quite hard to find.      mar4/4
