Royal Company of Archers, court dress coatee skirt ornaments with gilt buttons


The King’s Body Guard for Scotland ( Royal Company of Archers). A pair of decorative panels from the skirt of the coatee worn in Court Dress by members of this élite Scottish force which still attends Her Majesty the Queen on Scottish occasions [best seen in Edinburgh at the Thistle Ceremony at St Giles Cathedral when they parade in style]. Each panel measures 12 x 3½ ins overall and the thistle embroidery is mounted with three large sized 26mm finest gilt buttons by J Stewart & Son, Edinburgh. These very decorative items are probably from the reign of George V.
