SCOTS GUARDS. A handsome pair of silver menu holders, 1924

£650.00

A superb pair of silver menu holders for the Scots Guards, of very substantial construction and hallmarked London 1924. The officers’ badge, hallmarked on the back, is around the size of the badge worn on the dress cap, 2 x 2 ins. There are traces of gilding around the sides of the central device of the thistle within the motto suggesting that that part of the badge was once gilded. The badge is mounted on a weighted base 2½ ins in diameter and the overall height is also 2½ ins. The pair are in excellent condition and would make a perfect commissioning or retirement present.  nov1/2
