Scottish officer’s broadsword, late 19th century

A Scottish officer’s broadsword with the cross bar hilt used by both the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and the Seaforth Highlanders [see Robson Swords of the British Army , NAM 2011]. The sword has a rather worn 32 inch blade and the maker’s mark is not easy to read but is probably Mole pf Birmingham. The blade is numbered M4393 and the sword retains its steel scabbard. Most probably late Victorian.  jul4/2
