SIMLA. A postcard of the Civil Secretariat

A much less photographed building than the Viceroy’s Residence in Simla here gives an impression of the huge Indian Service necessary to maintain the smooth running of India when, in the hot weather, the government  moved to the summer capital along with the Viceroy, military headquarters, and polite society. The card is unused, some pencil marking on the back is easily erasable. It is printed in Germany but retailed by

Moorli Dhur & Sons, Ambala, probably before WW1.      aug14/5     SOLD 7th April 2022
