ROTHSCHILD. Sir Anthony de Rothschild. A late Victorian armorial livery button, 26mm

POA

The large 26mm gilt button shows the full arms of the Rothschilds with their unusual three crests. The design probably dates from the award of the baronetcy to Sir Anthony in 1846. He was also a baron of the Austrian Empire. There is a little loss of gilt to the high points of the design. The backmark is C. & J. WELDON 130 CHEAPSIDE LONDON. The arms of the present Lord Rothschild remain the same. The illustration shown here is from Burke’s Peerage 1874. jun24/4  SOLD 11th February 2024
