Letter written on 5 sides of small writing paper addressed Camp Fort St George, 19 Dec 1883 to Colonel Andrewes who was commanding the RA in Madras, where Roberts was Commander-in-Chief at this time. It concerns the use of coloured discs in signalling to gun teams and new ideas suggested by the colonel. It is signed Fred Roberts and written in his own hand. It shows the typical attention to detail which Roberts took. He had himself been an Engineer. Sold together with the original envelope addressed to Colonel Andrewes RHA, Cmg RA.
