TAKE HEED. An oval intaglio of a dog in a damaged pinchbeck type of mount

A  pleasing little 20 x 18mm oval intaglio of a dog  beneath the motto TAKE HEED. The 25 x 23mm mount seems to be pinchbeck or similar metal of a gilt copper colour. It retains one rather large fixing loop on thr verso and could have been a fixing for a brooch or bracelet. The intaglio itself would look good in a ring. The motto suggests either Take Notice, important or be careful . One of a number of cameos and intaaglios I have collected over many years and am now parting with, probably mid 19th century. apr22/1
