The East Lancashire Regiment, Volunteer officer’s 18mm

£7.00

East Lancashire Regiment, an 18mm silver plated button as worn by officers of Volunteer battalions in the 1890s and during part of Edward VII’s reign. The regular battalions would have worn gilt buttons. This good example has the backmark J & B PEARSE LONDON . The design is that adopted by the former 59th Foot after the 1881 reforms. It is one of several regiments displaying the Sphinx as a battle honour for the Egyptian campaign during the Napoleonic wars.     mar20/8
