Welsh Border Infantry Brigade, Hereford 1912

A rather unusual and fully identified group portrait showing the COs and Adjutants of the 1st Hereford Regt, 1st, 2nd & 3rd Monmouthshire Regt, and 4th Shropshire Light Infantry. The central figure is the Brigade Commander. On the extreme right of the front row is Captain S D A Rolls of the Dorset Regt (identified here in his role as adjutant of the 2nd Monmouthshire Regt), from whose old album this leaf came. The photograph measures 11 x 9 ins and the reverse of the old card leaf has another group portrait of Brigade officers, in their blue uniform, together  with their ladies. Captain Rolls is in the rear row ‘with Billy’.
