A good example of the 100th Foot, Prince of Wales’s Royal Canadians 25mm officer’s gilt button with the backmark SMITH KEMP & WRIGHT. The button retains most of the original gilt finish, This is the pattern worn from 1855 to 1881 when the regiment became the 1st Bn. The Prince of Wales’s Leinster Regt. (Royal Canadians). It was disbanded along with other Irish regiments in 1922. nov13/2
