13th Madras Infantry. Officer’s gilt 16mm button introduced c 1820

The officer’s 16mm gilt button of the 13th Madras Native Infantry showa the regimental number XIII within a laurel wreath with a crown above and he battle honour SERINGAPATAM on a scroll below. The button has a closed back with a single air hole but with no backmark. This the size of button that may have been worn on the stable jacket or on the collar of the coatee. It ooks as though it could do with cleaning but retains a good deal of the original gilt finish. mar13/2 SOLD 13th March 2026
