16th Regiment of Bengal Cavalry, Vistorian officer’s 18mm gilt button. circa 1885-1896
£24.00
A good example of the officer’s 18mm gilt button of the 16th Regiment of Bengal Cavalry of the pattern adopted in 1885 when the regiment was raised again in Ambala for service on the North West Frontier. This was the pattern worn on the tunic from 1885 until 1895 when a universal Bengal Lancers pattern was worn briefly . In 1900 a similar pattern to this was revived but with the regimental number altered to XVI from 16 and with Victorian crown. The button has no backmark but is of excellent manufacture. oct 29/2
