1906 Royal summons to a Court at Buckingham Palace

A formal summons on a 7¼ x 5 ins card on which the Lord Chamberlain summons Capt. & Mrs Cecil Norton to a Court at Buckingham Palace on 16th February 1906. The dress code is indicative of Edwardian formality being Full Dress, Ladies with Feathers and Trains . Cecil William Norton [1850-1930] was a successful Liberal M.P.  and Junior Lord of the Treasury 1905-10 and Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions during WWI. He was elevated to the Peerage as 1st Baron Rathcreedan.     jul5/2
