1st King’s Dragoon Guards, a George III period officer’s button
£45.00
The large 26mm button of the 1st King’s Dragoon Guards is of flat single sheet construction and retains its shank. Parkyn: Shoulder-belt plates and Buttons, 1956 describes this is an officer’s pattern of around 1800. Although we do not often offer excavated buttons like this the scarcity of this example warrants doing so. Although the button is worn the design remains clear. Cavalry buttons of this period are seldom found, especially ones of this large size. The design continued to be used for the next hundred years but the lettering changed to Gothic capitals. jun15/1
The regiment was deployed to Flanders during the French Revolutionary Wars.
