1st West Yorkshire Yeomanry, white metal 24mm tooper’s button

This example of a trooper’s 24mm button in white metal has backmark PRATER & Co. LONDON. Ripley: Yeomanry Buttons 1830-2000 [2005] shows this button [273], dating it to before 1889 when the regiment became the Yorkshire Dragoons. The design shows the lettering 1 WEST YORKSHIRE YEOMANRY on a circlet around a Yorkshire rose with a Victorian crown above. There are some small marks outside the circlet which may be able to be removed or imroved by cleaning. apr18/3
