20th LANCERS. Officer’s field cap as worn 1921-1937
£175.00 £150.00
The officer’s field cap of red, black, and cream cloth carries the badge of the short lived 20th Lancers, formed in 1921 from two distinguished former Bengal Lancer Regiments, the 14th Murray’s Jat Lancers and the 15th Lancers (Cureton’s Multanis) . It ceased to be active in 1937 when it became a training regiment. The badge is worn from polishing (especially on the high points of the crown and the scroll) and has four fixing lugs. It is unmarked but has the appearance of being of solid metal. There is moth damage to the black cloth, especially on the side with the badge. The supplier’s label is HERBERT JOHNSON, 38 NEW BOND ST. LONDON and there are small woven tape initials of the owner inside identifying him as P C B . jun1/5
