25th (The King’s Own Borderers) Regt. of Foot, brass 25mm
£36.00
A good example of the brass 25mm tunic button with the title THE KING’S OWN BORDERERS around the large Victorian crown, with regimental number 25 beneath. This is the pattern worn from 1855 until 1881 when the 25th became the 1st & 2nd Bns. The King’s Own Scottish Borderers, although most regiments adopted the new general service pattern for other ranks in 1872. The backmark is FIRMIN & SONS LD. LONDON. There is an officer’s gilt example for sale separately in this category and comparing it with this button it is very noticeable that the numerals and letters on this version are noticeably larger than on the officer’s. apr30/2
One of the images attached to this item shows it alongside the officer’s example for comparative puerposes. Both are available at the date of this entry – 21st July 2026.
